What can acupuncture treat?
The World Health Organization has published a list or conditions they recommend acupuncture for (WHO recommended conditions for acupuncture). As you can see from the list, there are a great many health conditions acupuncture can treat even by the WHO standards.
Acupuncture as primary care
What we have to remember is that acupuncture has been a primary care modality for thousands of years in different parts of the world. (TCM or Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture, the most common form of acupuncture used by practitioners today, has not been used for thousands of years as it is a relatively younger form of acupuncture.) People relied on acupuncture to treat every condition, from prevention and health maintenance to acute and chronic disorders. George Soulie de Morant learned True Acupuncture in the early 1900s in China and went on to use it as primary care modality in France. Morant demonstrated that acupuncture was equal to, if not more effective in many areas, than Western Medicine. In fact, for Morant it was capable of treating any functional disorder; where he drew the line with acupuncture was in treating lesions. He believed that other measures were needed when lesions were the cause of health care problems.
Through our research, we have seen acupuncture treat many conditions very easily–conditions that we were told in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) school that acupuncture could not treat or treated poorly. We’ve seen just the opposite. We’ve seen acupuncture work amazingly well across all functional conditions and superiorly to any other form of treatment that we know of. This is why we adhere to Morant’s teachings and apply Classical True Acupuncture primarily.
Acupuncture Specialties
Throughout our study of True acupuncture we, like all health care practitioners, have become more familiar with certain conditions than others; however, please always remember that True Acupuncture treats the whole person and not the conditions. Therefore, even though we may say we “specialize” in certain areas, that is only to say we have seen more patients with these problems and have had great success in those areas. No matter what condition we treat, the mechanism of treatment is always the same: understand each individual’s unique presentation and bring the whole body into harmony, without just looking to inserting needles based only on the symptoms.
We specialize in treating the individual and the root causes to health problems, which may result in elimination of many symptoms. With that said, here is a list of conditions we have become “more specialized” in:
- Pain relief and pain management
- Cosmetic Acupuncture “Facelifts” and Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture

Acupuncture as preventative medicine
By its nature, acupuncture is, by far, the best preventative medicine that we have found. Certainly exercise, nutrition, and a good attitude towards life are essential in maintaining good health; however, when it comes to medical modalities, nothing we have seen comes close to acupuncture in the prevention of disease and illness. Far too often, people wait until they have one or more of the above conditions before seeking an acupuncturist or they seek one as a last alternative. This needs to be reversed. We can keep you in optimal health and prevent you from suffering if you use acupuncture as a preventative means.
This is the area that True Acupuncture shines more than any other style. Because of the unique pulse diagnosis, we can understand what imbalances may exist even if you do not feel physical symptoms just yet. Balancing your merdians via our pulse analysis keeps you healthy before conditions arise - this proves to be an inexpensive health care approach in the long run. And often, with only one treatment per month and for many, it can be as few as two treatments per year! What other preventative health care can you get for less than $200 per year that actually does something?
We all work hard in life so that we can enjoy our free time and our retirement. True acupuncture can help you enjoy it in good health.
Please give us a call (720-324-7171) to discuss how we may be able to help you and remember, we offer a free initial consultation so you can feel comfortable with your health care decision.
